This is a gem of a book, by Herb Cohen. A master storyteller, each chapter is short enough for People Magazine, and a terrific little bit of inspiration to start your day (at least that’s how I’m reading it).

To get a project going with the gurus of custom direct mail, give Steve Tschosik, National Account Manager a call. He’s at Ext. 20 or stevet@shipshapes.net
If you want to meet a young guy who really has his act together, it’s Tom Becker, founder and CEO of ShipShapes. Still sporting a 20-something kidlike smile, Tom has singlehandly turned direct mail on its head. He has perfected a way of printing full color artwork onto plastic (up to 3/4 of an inch think) using traditional 4/color presses. Add any (and I mean any die cut shap and you’ve got a piece of direct mail that will surely get attention.
The thing I appreciated the most, however, is that even though Tom does business with General Motors and Dell, he still thinks like a small businessman. He’s willing to do short runs less than a few thousand pieces. Think about using ShipShapes the next time you do a preshow mailer and you want traffic coming to your booth.
[I scanned one of their recent mailers they printed for Denny’s, which could barely fit onto my HP Scanjet. It’s 7 x 9 inches and fully die-cut.]
