This is a gem of a book, by Herb Cohen. A master storyteller, each chapter is short enough for People Magazine, and a terrific little bit of inspiration to start your day (at least that’s how I’m reading it).

Rod Kimmel and Glyn Meek have created an excellent tool for tracking deals that doesn’t require the IBM I.T. support team, like so many others.
When I first started using Software on Sailboats’ Desktop Sales Manager I wondered why didn’t I think of developing a tool like this. With all the rush to online tools like Salesforce.com (www.salesforce.com), Netsuite (www.netsuite.com) and Siebel’s CRM On Demand (www.crmondemand.com) [full disclosure: Tom Siebel serves on the University of Illinois Department of Computer Science board with me], I wondered what the rest of the world was going to do for their sales people who weren’t network-connected all day long.
Here’s a tool that’s just as easy, if not easier to use than Excel, that allows your entire team or a team of one—like me—to capture and track deals all in one place.

It is critical that the entire business expects and demands the sales information to be accurate - just as you would expect and demand information from accounting or inventory software to be accurate. Predicting sales drives inventory, scheduling, staffing and ultimately drives bottom line profits.
